My New Bass! pictures an youtube included!

Post by tennis_nick »

I got it last thursday, and just yesterday got it strung up with LaBella flats!

Meet my new Hofner Icon!

I love the look, pretty sweet looking instrument! With the flats on there.... I love it!

What's the optimal position for the knobs for that beatles tone? I love both switches off, with bridge pup off. Sounds really cool!

Check out this video, I go through all the little tones. I made it because I noticed there were no Hofner demos online really! Icons especially!

Cool Icon, I used to have one. For me, ideal Beatle tone is both pickups all the way up with the treble engaged. I don't have a demo video, but you can hear my Hof Club in this one. You get a pretty good sense of how it sounds (make sure you're watching in high quality).

That's pretty good! When I play with the treb switch on, It sounds too.... ploinky.... if that makes any sense. so far my favorite tone is both switches off, with the treble volume rolled all the way back. love it love it.

I guess I've got the look, but the sound is all my own!

She's a beaut, Nick, and the video was a great idea. Hofner Icon... hmmmm.....

Which reminds me of the time in 1969 when I went into a local shop and in the window was a 1964 Hofner 500/1 for a whopping $450, which to this young high schooler was like $10000 back then. Where's that time machine......

Thanks, Nick, for sharing that.
Nothing compares to the sound of a beatle bass. So purely sweet! I like your demo too.
Oh, there go my G.A.S. symptoms again...
When I first started playing a friend of mine had a sixties number that was awesome. He paid around $400 I think
