Damien Rice
Damien was born in Dublin, Ireland in December 1973 and grew up in Celbridge, Co Kildare, Ireland.Rice was a member of the rock band Juniper. Having released the singles The World Is Dead and Weatherman in Ireland during 1998, the band was due to record their first full album for Polygram in 1999. However, Rice became disenchanted with the label and left the band to pursue a solo career. His Juniper band mates later became Bell X1
Damien has released five albums: O, B-Sides, 9, Live At Fingerprints Warts & All, and Live from the Union Chapel.
O is the name of Damien Rice's first album, originally released in 2002. Released in the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom on 1 February, it has since gone platinum in the Republic of Ireland. "The Blower's Daughter" which was released in September 2001, before the album itself was completed. It entered the top 20 in the Irish charts.
Rice wanted to make the album without the backing of a major record label, believing if he signed such a deal it would compromise his future work, forcing him to move in directions he did not wish to.A truly outstanding album with fantastic vocals.

O November the 6th 2006, Damien Rice released his second album ‘9’. Composed throughout the four years since its acclaimed predecessor O, The record was released to mixed critical and fan reaction. Both Mojo and Q gave it 4/5, with the latter branding Rice very much in the positive as "The King Of Pain" and The Sunday Times made the record their 'Album of the Week'. the single "9 Crimes," which was released on November 27, 2006. The record went gold in the UK and showed that Rice is a great songwriter furthermore Rice has a way of painting a picture in one`s mind the same way Ray Davie`s did with The Kinks.

In 2008 Rice participated in a music album called Songs for Tibet, which is an initiative to support Tibet, and to underline the human rights situation in Tibet. The album was issued on August 5 via iTunes and on August 19 in music stores around the world.
