I love my Rics, and I appreciate I've been very fortunate to own them. Having said that, I sometimes wonder if I might not be a better player if I just had maybe one electric guitar and played it constantly? Being honest with myself,I suspect I know the answer, but I don't want to deal with it :D . These thoughts are usually followed closely by the "how much will I regret the sell decision down the road?" question....

From time to time I also play the "what if?" game of looking at what I would sell in what order if something should arise that forced me to sell some stuff. I tend to think I'd hold on to my c58 JG as long as possible, but the others could go early. Nothing wrong with them, and I enjoy them, etc., etc., but reality is sometimes we all have to make unpleasant choices.

No...you ruined it by drilling a 5th hole in the headstock.

It took paying for my 38-year old brother's funeral to make me part with mine.

At a time like that, you realize these things really aren't all THAT important in the grand scheme of things.

Wow, that had to be tough (not the selling). My condolences, Steve, thought I know that's not why you posted this.

ANY of these 4 (one is a John Birch from 1976) could go if I stopped playing them for long enough.
Sorry... Just back from vacation... Hey Ian, have you posted a comparison of the Birch vs. the Rics? I've always liked the Birch basses! In fact, I was bidding for one on eBay a while ago... And it was green... Did you win that auction?

Dave - you should have bought that Birch 4 - 8 string double neck that Songbird had a couple of years ago!

Y'know I played with it, but honestly I've got no way to use a double neck, it would have just sat in a closet and that would be a complete shame.

BTW, there's a 4080 on Vancouver's Craigslist - even though he's asking crazy money - at http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/msg/812602071.html I"ll post it in the for sale section too.

Hi, I bought the Birch from a collector a couple of years ago.
He had a roomful of truly gorgeous and very collectable Birch guitars at great prices.
Also a white / tuxedo 620.
I bought the only bass.

I could have had either of these instead...

+1. I just sold my 4003. That money really comes in handy sometimes.

Too funny Steve! I gotta say, I'll bet that even though that 4-2-5 sounds and plays fine, the value dropped by $400.00 or more with that conversion.
