JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: What amp setting sounds better on bass?
Sounds like my wife - she tolerates it when I fire up, as long as there is at least one closed door between us. I wonder if that's a comment on my playing.....qwezirider wrote:My wife just walked through the room and said the best sound for bass is "off."JakeK wrote:What do you bass players out there think makes the best sound for the bass?
I guess I know where I'm sleeping tonight.

Sounds like another comment I received from her not long ago. I was complaining that after 27 years of playing, I have yet to find a gauge and brand of strings I am content with. Just the ongoing psychosis of being a bassist.johnallg wrote:qwezirider wrote:Sounds like my wife - she tolerates it when I fire up, as long as there is at least one closed door between us. She said "Well maybe that's why you sound like you do."
I'm still trying to figure out the meaning of that one.

Personally, I am an Entwistle guy. Without the FUZZ.

Don't! Just stick to trying strings to find "your sound." Have you tried Webstrings? I just put on their stainless steel rounds on my 4003S with the magnet shoe'd horsey and they are really good sounding strings - and cheap.qwezirider wrote:Sounds like another comment I received from her not long ago. Oh yeah, I've been using them for the last three years. I like them well enough. Can't beat the price when you gig a lot and change strings a lot! My mental blocks stem more from feel under the fingers than tone. I like the feel of Webstring's lightest gauges but the tone of the mediums. So it's a continuous tug of liking/disliking anything I try. Although I did try their stainless steels and did not like the feel or tension.johnallg wrote:Don't! Doomed to a life of continual experimentation with strings.
