Tech 21 Liverpool

Post by whojamfan »

Finally, after 6 or more months waiting to get this thing, it's finally in stock. Mine arrived earlier today and wow, this thing is smoking. I've never played a pedal before that "chimed". It's extremely versatile and well worth the money, especially these days when you can buy something on line and send it back if you don't like it. Those of you with other amps that would like to get a wide variety of Ac30s without buying them, check it out. I'm nailing great tones with this puppy, and can't wait to run it through my Hiwatt. :D

The amp I played it through was my battery powered Vox AD5 that I use in my truck, so if it sounded great through this thing, it's gotta sound killer through a "real" amp. I used both a Les Paul Special and a 330FGVP to test it out, and both sounded awesome in their own ways.

If any of you get one, lemme know what you think. I'll post more as I try it through other amps and volumes.

Have you tried it yet with recording direct, no amp? My VT Bass sounds wonderful direct.

I just got it today, haven't had a chance to record with it yet, but I'm very impressed with it so far.

I'm still amazed at how good this pedal sounds with my 330. I am equally amazed at how bad it sounds with my 360/12. Both have toasters, and it is really strange how different it sounds with the 2 guitars. Just thought I'd steer anybody clear if they were going to get one to use with a Rick 12.

Any updates? Where you ever able to dial in a good tone with your 12 string?

Haven't tried the 12 string again, but my 4003AFG sounds great through it(believe it or not). Keep in mind that I'm running these guitars and basses through a battery powered Vox AD-5 guitar amp, not through any sizeable rig. I'm a long distance truck driver at the moment, and am only home about 5 days a month, so most of my playing is inside the cab of my truck. I rotate instruments everytime I come home, so I get to out with a different one each time. I will probably be taking the 12 this time. I was really surprised at the bass sound coming out of the Liverpool. I took an old RP-50 Digitech pedal and this thing sounded much better, IMHO. I wish I could make a good recording of this to post, but I really can't in the truck, and have little time at home. Eventually, I should be able to get something out there.

You're missing a cool hook here, Mike...a CD of songs recorded and post-produced in your truck. These days, with a Tascam NEO, you can record, mix, burn CDs and do everything but print the labels.

How about "Sleeper Cab Insomnia" for a first title?

"Why don't We Record It On The Road" could be the second song title!

I've got an old Boss BR1180CD that would be perfect, except any audio devices plugged in to an inverter produce an annoying high pitched whistle. Thinking I'd be clever and just use battery power on the amp, still whistles-humbuckers don't help. The company won't let me dink around to find the source of the interference, so I'm stuck. I've got some nice recording software in my laptop, but need to take my midi controller, an instrument, and an interface to make that work. I just don't have enough room in the cab, the guitar/bass lays on my bunk, and stands up in front of my passenger seat when I'm sleeping. Very small.

I was thinking about one of those new Boss miniature digital 4 track things, but 230 bucks is more than I can really afford to plunk down on something that is so limiting when I have these other options. I was very ill for most of last year and just started working a few months ago, and am really concentrating on getting my chops back. I just took my 4003 out last time and fully realized how much I hate a good quality instrument. They are very unforgiving to a man who needs a little forgiveness.

BTW JPS, as good as the Liverpool sounds with my bass, I'm sure the VT pedal you have is the bomb as you have stated earlier. Guess I'm telling the wife I got a speeding ticket to get one  (shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

The Tascam 2488 looks like a great deal, but I have heard a lot of bad things about them, mainly that they damage easily when you move them. I can't take that chance. I almost bought that Korg 32 track unit, but got a laptop instead for portability. Jury is still out on whether or not that was a good move.

Took the 360/12 out last week, and had a lot of down time. Sorry to report, and don't know why, but the Liverpool didn't sound good in any setting, IMHO. Still sounds awesome with the 330, weird, huh? Both guitars have toasters.

Hey, I just found this one. That looks cool, Mike. Might have to get me one so I can switch between that and the Jackhammer.

I've tried it on some of my other guitars, and it's good to not bad to ok sounding, but makes the 330 smoke. Darndest thing, most pedals usually have more consistant results with different guitars.

Do you have hi-gains in your 330, Mike? I'm wondering what it would do for my 320 :?

Oh wait, I guess VP means re-issue toasters?
