1963 625, MG

Post by teeder »

I thought you guys would want to see this.
My brother bought it from Guitar Trader in 1979 for $450.00. The rear pu didn't work, but was still with the guitar. Someone had put a tele pu in, but I don't remember if there were any routes or additional screw holes.
He traded it off in the mid '80's.
The picture is from about 1984. I'll see if he still has the serial # written somewhere.

A fine guitar Kevin - too bad it's no longer in the stable :( That maple looks nicely figured.

It's been a long time, but I remember it as having very nice maple.

Any guesses what it would be worth today?

(Probably don't want to know!)

Kevin, I believe it would be a $3000-$3500 guitar in mint condition. If it had been routed, I guess take about $1000 off that price.

Sure it wasn't a '64? Crushed pearl inlays + Made in USA TRC. Wow, I just realised how far the fretboard went into the neck. Cool.

No, I'm not 100% sure. We're talking a couple years since he had it ( ), though he does have a good memory about this stuff.

Ain't that the truth!
He said he traded it for a Dan Armstrong.

Kev, if he says "Can I see that '69 4001S of yours?", you say, "Heck no! You'd probably trade it for a Mexican P-bass!"
