Post by tore-trang »

I need a lowprofile crome cover for my 77ric 4001, for a while there have been one on the ebay, have mailed him but no respons yet. Do you think this is a true 72 cover and will its messure fit the gap of my 77 4001?

It looks for real, but it's in poor shape and very overpriced....He has had it on sale for a long time....
In saying that, they are not common and do have a nice feel on the bass.
I couldn't find one when I wanted one, so I ended up fabricating one out of stainless steel.

It is expensive but low profile handrests are difficult to find. Vintage Fender chrome covers aren't that much cheaper and are a lot easier to locate.

ok, well here in Norway everything is overprized  But Will this fit my 77 4001 ric.? I have the lowprofilecover for my 74 bass, and the gap on the 74 is two hairstraw bigger/wider.
Anybody bought early cromecover for late -70 4001 basses?
Thanks

A friend of mine has a new handrest on a '73 4001 and it's a good fit.

I thought the low profile pickup covers stopped around 72/73?

I have a low profile on my '76 4001, and everything appears all original on it. I, too think I read that the tall covers first came with the 4003s...

Has anyone put washers or some other type of spacers between the guard and the surround to make the high profile of the guard lower?

Just a thought...

That would make your pickup lower also. You would want a shorter spacer between the pickup mounting bar and the cover to make the cover lower.

What is the difference in the heights of the low & high profile covers?
