Dig the new breed!

Post by scotty »

Id like say that Artist of the week is now formally known as "Dig the new Breed" a new name but the same content.New bands brought to you from the UK.Id also like you to welcome Mark Sanders who has agreed to help out in this thread to bring you new music from our little island .Please feel free to add any other new bands to this section that you have heard about or seen live.

Kicking off with The low lights
Young, precocious indie-funk-punk foursome The Low Lights of Cardiff have established a reputation as an alternative band of some promise.

Formed in high school, The Low Lights spent their formative months taking their music to the streets of the city, "busking and building up enough pennies to record our first demo".

The pennies enabled them to record five songs at Screamadelica studios in Cardiff Bay. The reaction to these songs was positive, and despite doing A-levels, the band were booked to support a number of well-known acts.

They have also headlined their own sell-out show at Cardiff's Barfly venue.

As 2007 comes to a close and with conventional schooling now behind them, The Low Lights are looking to continue their upward trajectory through gigging and more recording.

Nice start to the thread Scotty

I like their sound, but I do think it's a shame that their voice is a generic Manc/Caribbean/Cockney rather than Cardiff Bay (there's tidy!)

Lizzyspit
Wow first impressions i like her!
Lizzyspit is a 23 year old singer/songwriter based in Clapham, London.
Lizzyspit uses her acoustic guitar and teams it with good humour and soulful voice to make catchy, quirky songs. As Lizzy explains “My main influences come from classic rock, not because I play like the bands but because I love the music and I love what they have achieved. "Well you cant beat that" can ya?

Nicole Willis And The Soul Investigators are what I believe young people call "nu-soul" - retro sounds and modern soul vocals.

Nicole is backed by a nine-piece band and the debut album Keep Reachin' Up is available now on Timmion Records, with a new record expected next year.

Enjoy.

Steve Pilgrim
Resurrecting a forgotten thread here.

Not the best Youtube, but this is a very talented man. He played drums with the wonderful The Stands and has recently thumped the tubs and played guitar (not at the same time) with Paul Weller.

My space has some top songs, if only I could work out how to buy the CD.

Striking stuff - the music sounds like How Soon Is Now played on a banjo.

Cheer Rob.
