Thanks for the good vibes, everybody.... you all have made my day! :D

Scotty, Dreamer's Eyes is the very first song I ever wrote, and my husband feels it is my very best--but he likes my acoustic version better. It is supposed to sound a little bit otherworldly--that's what the song is about: living in a dream world inside of my head.... Overall that's a lovely place to be, LOL! That's where all of the songs come from, I suppose....

Cheers, everyone! I'm having my own little celebration here, in the company of my virtual Rickenfriends.....

Just checked....it's all there, Kira.... what kind of internet connection do you have? Is it possible that your connection is not fast enough to download the songs? If you absolutely can't get them to load, PM me with your working email address and I can send you some MP3s.

Finally got it to come in. Maybe a problem with Safari...
Your voice is beautiful and the songs are nicely folky and comforting. Your lyrics invite more than one listening. Beautiful sounds from the guitars, too. What do you think is the most important piece of gear you use to get your sound so clear and full?
My inner artist tells me that the drum parts don't do you justice. Maybe consider more live, non-standard percussive arrangements which could distinguish your sound, like tambourine, doumbek, whatever you feel sounds good. I recorded some spoons recently for the good-timey rhythm feeling of "The Catherine Wheel" in addition to banging out the drums part by hand with the software instruments and my midi keyboard. I just haven't learned to like loops for the basic tracks, prefer the human touch which seems more copacetic to your material too.
Keep up the good work, Mel!

+1. And I always thought it was the Songpull videos that were slowing things down. I thought about deleting one of them on my page.

Hey Melibee, when's the CD coming out? I'll buy one.

Thanks again, everyone....

Just added a YouTube video, but it's in my blog section of the site.... check it out! It's my song Holding On To You, which we did as a worship team this morning. My 11-year old couldn't keep the camera still while he was recording it, though!

What the heck: I'll just post the link here, too.

BTW, Jim, I think it'll be a long time before I actually release a CD....I don't think my ability with my recording unit is that good, yet....

By the way, Kira, I agree with you on the drum machine.... All of the songs I posted except for Holding On To You use the drum machine that is built into my recording unit, and it sounds kind of cheesy. There are ways to program it and add a few measures of intro, fills, and outro, but I am not very well-versed in programming drum tracks, so I just used some basic rhythm presets, just to keep a nice even tempo.... but I would much rather play with a real drummer! Check out the YouTube video, we actually did just that today, and it's always a joy--he's good. On my audio clip of Holding On To You we used the drum machine from the keyboard, which I think is a big improvement over the recording unit's drum tracks.

Very nice stuff, Meli! I really enjoyed the new tunes, regardless of the drum machine issues. My fav tunes from your new batch are 'Dreamer's Eyes' and 'You Alone.' Nice variety in tone & feel, and those acoustics sound great.

Thanks, Mark... I'm glad you like it!

I've got many more recording projects in the works right now--I've had an amazing burst of inspiration in the songwriting department in the last several months, and have learned several new cover songs as well.... I look forward to sharing many more of my songs, and hopefully will find more time to work on my new songs in the near future.

Thanks again to everyone for listening--feel free to send me a friend request when you're on MySpace! :D
