Rick in Action: gig announcement

Post by chuck_king »

My band, the Xylenes, will be playing a Happy Hour set next Wednesday, October 8, at Manhattan's, 415 S. Dearborn in Chicago, around 6:00 or shortly thereafter. The show is free, and the beer is cheap. I'm the principal guitarist and I will be playing Rickenbackers (360 and/or 330) exclusively.

I will not try to sell the Xylenes to other musicians on their technical prowess---most of the other members are relative beginners (it's a group of friends from the office, and other friends/spouses). But we have an interesting and eclectic set of covers and Ithink it will be a fun show.

Hope the gig went well. Our band, Back Pages, features two 360/12MG's on all of the early Byrds stuff as well as a Rick bass. We're fairly new, as bands go. We've been actively together since the end of June '08, and usually play at Central Market locations around Ft. Worth, TX. Upcoming dates are Oct. 18th 6 to 9pm at CM(Hulen St.) and Oct. 31st, 6 to 9pm at CM(Southlake). Thats all on the books for now. We're a bunch of over-the -hill guys who grew up on the Beatles, Byrds, Petty etc. We try to mix these artists' hits in with a few odds and ends. Hope if you're in the neighborhood you can drop in, it's free! Mike in TX
