Anyone know anything about Fernandes Stratocasters?
I saw a Made in Japan Fernandes Stratocaster at my local store. They want $320 for it(comes with a nice padded gigbag). It is in excellent almost new condtion (9.9) It has a sparkly gold finish and gold hardware and looks pretty spectacular. It looks like looks kinda like Bob Dylan's Gold Lame Strat(below)except it has gold hardware.I think it was made around 1990.Anyone know any thing about these guitars? Any info would be appreciated.

Mitch, these were pretty good quality Fender copies. I think they came from the same factory which ended up producing Fender Japan guitars in the 80s.
The asking price is fair - not too high or low.
I'd probably replace the pickups with Fender Custom Shop or vintage style Seymour Duncans. The necks and bodies on these guitars were of really high quality.

Thanks Darren,I had heard of these, but I never saw one before. It actually is a nicer guitar than a 1985 MIJ 50's Fender Strat that is at the same store for $500.rick_ovic wrote:Mitch, these were pretty good quality Fender copies. I picked up one of these in black on Ebay with a broken switch tip for $100.00. Not a bad little beginner's instrument. My stepson will receive it as a Christmas gift. The pickups are a bit raw, but it doesn't sound half bad through the right amp.

That gold sparkle one, Mitch, isn't too far off from a Dick Dale Strat, at a small fraction of the Fender Custom Shop price, too!
All's you need is the Ken-Po sticker, pick dispenser, and a set of THICK strings...

I used to be in a band with a guy that played one. That guitar was the only thing I liked about him. The Fernandes sounded and played just as good as my Fender.
Jangle, Chime & Twang.

A bandmate of mine has a very similar one (early 90's-ish), in Daphne Blue with a maple fretboard. I absolutely love the thing! He got it for $100.

Mitch, let me know if you find a Fernandes Dual Showman, preferably in cream Tolex.
BTW, what does "Can I has" mean? Is that Minneapolitan slang?
