Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. Boy, I haven't heard that in a LONG time! My little brother just loved that, learned to "sing" along perfectly. Of course, he was one of those kids who was quite proud of the fact that he could belch the alphabet...

And yeah, I think the guy put that web page up probably is the only one on the planet who didn't know who the kid was...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

The first time I saw The Smithereens, in 1988, this was their walk-on music.

I had that one. My dad laughed at it but not in front of Mom. She'd give us both that look over the top of the glasses, you know the one

I feel like I haven't heard that in at least 40 years- well, Dr. Dimento must've played it since. We had it on the little flexi disc that came in the magazine. I'm sure that was my favorite song that year.

Ha! Gary Brian (sp) on KRTH-FM here in SoCal uses the "it's a gas" sound bite for one of his daily contests. I did not know that that is where it came from!

I'm ashamed to admit that when I was I kid I stole that flexi-disc out of a Mad magazine in a Supermarket.
