Got a new toy.
I found this at a dealer out west for a really good price. It was made in August of '08.
It has the ABM bridge which I hate. I have a Hipshot style "A" on the way. Im going to experiment with this one, try some different things.
I love the dark walnut wings.

Very nice!

Nice congratulations Scott.Whooo 3 Scotts in a row
Re: Got a new toy.
Great looking bass Scott. I would change the volume and tone to vvt like a jazz bass. I really liked what Jeffery did with his 4004 w/ vvt and toaster p-ups.
Re: Got a new toy.
Here is another Scott to ad to the fray!
I agree, do the JPS variant to it, Scott. It looked and sounded killer that way.

More Scots.
Re: Got a new toy.
Definatlely VVT or I'll revisit the concentric VT/VT again. I'm considering a blend pot also.

I wouldn't stop and pick them up on a bet.
Really nice bass. I love the clean styling.
All I wanna do is rock!

Nice score!
I'll be interested to see if you like the Laredo tone more than that of your Cii.

I don't understand why people change out the ABM bridge. What is there to hate about it?

Re: Got a new toy.
The rollers tend to shift allowing the string spacing to change and, IMO, the Hipshot has better sustain. The Hipshot also allows lower action if the ABM doesn't offer enough travel. Aesthetically I prefer the Hipshot over the ABM and I like the top loading option for string changes. None of it is a big deal (I'm still living with the ABM on my LK FWIW) but for $100 it isn't a major financial issue to swap it out either.
Re: Got a new toy.
I've heard that about it not being adjustable low enough. I wonder if for those with this problem, that the action has been set low enough at the nut, or if the neck has flexed slightly at the body joint on basses with the current pickup spacing, causing a shallower string angle. The Schaller bridge being used now certainly goes low enough.
Re: Got a new toy.
great scott! (sorry had to do it...) nice bass,i would be curious to try a toaster by the neck, and keep the hb-1 in the rear position (if the two pickups could be blended sucessfully) . i wonder also how much the unfinished fretboard (cii vs laredo) affects the sound on these.
