If Anyone out there is interested in a 2x10 bass cabinet that weighs 50lb's and sounds like a huge bi-amped system you gotta check this out.I've read alot of good things about them before, but I just got mine yesterday and when I heard it I could not believe this kind of sound coming from a 2x10..Punchy,clear, with lows you can feel.31 Hz to 22KHz.This is something I feel is worth knowing about ,if you don't already.Their web-site
is acmebass.com.
Acme Sound Ltd.Low B-2 Bass Cabinet.KILLER!!
I used to have one of Acme's Low B4's... before I was coerced into "downsizing" by "key" band mates.
I became a sort of "sonic guru" to several local bassists after they "felt" (and heard) that Acme.
As most cabinets go, they're power hogs... but IMHO the solidity of sound they produce is well worth it!

My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker

I play through 2 2x10 cabs and mike it into a BIG pa system ... 6000 watt crown with cerwin vega 18" folded horn subs ...
With this setup subsonic lows are NOT a problem ...
I like to run just 10's at full frequency ... and let the speakers undergo some distress as they try to put out what is being sent to them ... that is part of my sound ... this keeps my stage volume down ... but the mains are free to kick major butt ...

Bill: How about a photo?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

If a person is going to run full frequency through a small cab or two, Tannoy coaxial monitors could be used (but rather pricey). It works well on miking because of the point source nature of the driver. This assumes that overdrive is produced upstream of the speaker, since they are designed to play clean. Andy Lewis designed the Acme Low B2 cabs along audiophile design parameters rather than the old school way of sticking drivers in a poorly designed box ala Leo Fender (a talk on the phone with him confirmed this). At home I play through 6.5" Polk monitors rather than regular bass cabs ($200/pair on the used market). You can feel the bass coming out of these little cabs, but they will not play loud, which isn't necessary or even desireable in bedroom practice. It's the same philosophy as the Acme B2 cabs on a smaller scale. In essence, it's the same as if you had an SVT rig in an auditorium when cab size is proportioned to venue size.
Hi all.In response to Peters request for a photo, sorry it took so long to reply but my computer has been down for the past week. And unfortunately my digital camera took a dive as well. But Peter if go to Acme's web-site (acmebass.com)you can check it out there.
The speakers are rated at 350 watts, but I'm sure they can get louder than that. They say a 500 watt head is ideal for a 4ohm which is what I got.I've used it on a few gigs since I got it and it sounded great.Unfortunatly it was a Beatle cover band and I had to use my ****** Hofner copy. But it even made that sound good!I can't wait 'till next Friday.I have a gig that does mixed British Invasion and I get to use the Rickenbacker through it.I've been getting a great
Squire sound at home using a Digi-Tech BP-200.For the money ($150.00)the BP-200 sounds great, once you edit the presets. There's a Sunn bass head preset and when you scoop the mids and boost the treble and bass it makes my 4003 sound very "Close To The Edge" .SO Friday I'll be using that combination cranked and I'm sure the bass will be clear and FELT as well as heard.
I'd love to have an 8x10 cab.But I'd hate to have to cart it around. For the size and weight this Acme is,it gets the job done in clubs beautifully.
