If you were stranded on an Island...

Post by JakeK »

And could only choose the compilations of your favorite rock bands, what would you choose?

I'd have to go with:
The Ultimate Collection -- The Who
Forty Licks -- The Rolling Stones
1962-1966 and 1967-1970 -- The Beatles
Anthology Through the Years -- Tom Petty
The Ultimate Collection -- The Kinks
The Essential -- The Byrds

Since we're not narrowing it down, I'll take every compilation ever.

It is all the compilations from your favorite bands.

John B, I take it you like every band in the world?

Not yet, but being on a desert island would give me the chance to listen to 'em all, at least. As long as there's a CD player. Or some sort of pre-loaded iPod with a battery that'll never go bad. :)

I was gonna say, the system to play 'em on is probably a bigger issue than having the albums...

Mut, I'd have to say, Pink Floyd Momentary Lapse of Reason would be high on my list.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Scotty, hang tough, the Coast Guard is on the way. We'll have you back to civilization in no time.

I'd take any and all compilations of the Brit Invasion groups.

Bob Dylan's "Bootlegs" series.

The Best Of Leonard Cohen.

Plus "With The Lights Out", the 4-disk Nirvana box set.

Me too!!!

Guam is only 30 miles long. You can spit and hit the other side.

Help! Send some wine and Duffy! (not her CD, I want Duffy!!)

I've got plenty of music already.

We'll start of with The Who's Greatest and take it from there.

I'd pick groups that would motivate me to build a really big outrigger canoe with some huge oars.

Either no compilations at all or those i've "compiled" myself (i.e. songs that i've chosen, not some "ready-made" greatest hits album).
Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.

If you were stranded on an Island...
This is not fair, as folks like Aitch , Evan, Greg, etc. live on an island!
