Re: Sticky Neck
The Dr. Stringfellow's Lem-Oil is great stuff. I tried it after Paul recommended it. It's especially good on my 650S.

Re: Sticky Neck
JH has also suggested in the past, scuffing the back of the neck with fine (00) steel wool or Scotch-Brite, to kill the gloss. This would seem to be, on first glance, strictly a "players'" solution, but this sort of treatment, if not done too aggressively, can be buffed back out if the instrument needs to be sold on at a later time.
Re: Sticky Neck
i would take that dry cotton cloth on it over and over and just keep it clean and dry.
dusan palka who is also known as grazioso on infamous auction web site

...and always wear a Michael Jackson glove on your neck hand...grazioso wrote:i would take that dry cotton cloth on it over and over and just keep it clean and dry.
This is mostly an issue of the natural grabbiness of skin when confronted with a glossy surface. You can treat the surface to keep the hand from sticking (hence the wax working for awhile until it wears off), you can reduce the area in contact with the hand (by scuffing with fine steel wool, or, as many manufacturers do, finish the neck in a matte varnish), or you can treat the hand to cause it to slide easier. George uses talcum powder sometimes, on his fretting hand...
