Very nice work, Steve. Is this where that RIHS is going?

That would be a very good assumption.

It seems like every time I want to put a plexi truss rod cover on a bass, it's gotta be sanded to fit properly. Steve's bass will also feature an original 60's RIC lap steel bridge pickup surround that's been re-shaped to resemble the same part from an RM1999 and re-chromed over the original brass. This was the same surround I had on my 4008CS.

No not yet...it's still sitting there.....doing nothing.
I can't do anything else until I get a hold of Tony from Pickguardian.
I've called 4 times now and he doesn't answer the phone. I've left messages and he doesn't return my calls.

After Christmas the website stated they would be open a couple days between Chistmas and New Years and also ater New Years up until the 9th.
I tried contacting him then. The website also states that they will be closed from the 9th to the 18th...for some reason.
I will try again after then. .....but until I get the new guard I can not do a thing.

Ya Know Steve, I made all the guards on my basses and a few for forum members as well including the guard for Mark Walker's RM1999. If you have a guard that already fits the bass, but you want a vintage guard, I can make the necessary adjustments.

Looks good. Still a shame that the third screw is so far away from the Ric script on these reissues, but you really made it work.

I had to plug the two holes at the nut and re-drill these holes to accommodate the new TRC. One of the new holes was half way into the small maple dowels I plugged the holes with.
Also, using a file, I slightly beveled the edge next to the nut to achieve a more precise fit.....
...Oh.... by the way..... here's the rest of the beast in question.
