I don't know why but I couldn't stop laughing at this.

Re: Ringo's Songwriting
Ringo's songwriting stands the test of time.... right along with his guitar playing
Re: Ringo's Songwriting
That "Family Guy" scene shows Paul on his Höfner (drawn accurately), George on his Gretsch (drawn accurately) and John on something that could be his RM 1996 (it's drawn so bad, I don't know what it is). Are Ric's that hard to draw?
Re: Ringo's Songwriting
I hadn't noticed that.... there's a lot of detail in Paul and George's but not so for John's. I wonder why.JakeK wrote:That "Family Guy" scene shows Paul on his Höfner (drawn accurately), George on his Gretsch (drawn accurately) and John on something that could be his RM 1996 (it's drawn so bad, I don't know what it is). Well, after debating whether or not they should do flatwounds or roundwounds, the whole thing just exploded into an argument and they went another way with it.

I've never understood the dissing of Ringo. His timing is impecable (Petty says he's a freakin' metronome), his style is instantly recognizable, his fills are unique, and as the article says, he played the many styles J,P & G threw at him easily. I think he has the best hi-hat hand in the history of the world.

Good point. I remember one Beatles reviewer who said "while Ringo banged artlessly in the background". I'm a big fan of Ringo's drumming (not so his singing), but having said that I've noticed that a lot of his live stuff was much cruder than the studio recordings. I guess this is understandable given the wild screaming where the Fabs were struggling just to hear themselves.... Ringo was just trying to give them some sort of audible beat to go by.shamustwin wrote:I've never understood the dissing of Ringo.
