Another dvd

Post by supersaints »

Another new dvd that features THE SEARCHERS is 60'S BRITPOP which sells for under 6 pounds. It features 24 tracks including 2 from The Searchers. The 2 tracks are both from the same edition of READY STEADY GO and are WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE RAIN and THIS FEELING INSIDE. The latter I have never seen before and is a gem, even though it is mimed badly.

On the advert and publicity for this dvd, its not even listed, but if you get the dvd it is there, to my surprise and bonus!!! Was not expecting it at all so its a huge plus Roy. Its even got a picture section at the end with the group with John Blunt!!!

I bought this DVD in HMV Portsmouth for £7 today. Both Searchers tracks' are listed. I have not played it yet but I suspect these tracks come from a "Ready Steady Go" TV programme from late 1964 when this pairing was their follow-up 45 to "When You Walk In The Room". When "Ready Steady Go" was shown on TV in the 1980s the original programmes were cut up and split across different weekly showings. If I am correct the sequence should be: Cathy McGowan introduces "What Have They Done To The Rain" then Kent Walton interviews The Searchers then (and this is where the memory gets a bit ropey) Chris Curtis makes a joke about "John being in Walton Prison when he wrote this song") before they play "This Feeling Inside". I must search out my old VHS videos to find these tracks.
The Searchers are the best!

Another good value dvd(£.5.99 from Play.com) is THE BEST OF BEAT BEAT BEAT VOLUME 3. It features 3 numbers from the old german Beat programme with The Searchers performing LOVE POTION, SWEETS and C.C. RIDER. I had never seen the latter before. As an added bonus on the dvd are numbers by THE MOVE, THE TREMELOES AND THE SMOKE. Why THE SMOKE never had a hit in the 60' with MY FRIEND JACK is a mystery to me!!!!!
