If anyone knows of an inexpensive hardwire internet service in NY,which doesn't require hardwire telephone service, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Maybe I should explain....
I live in an apartment where I use my landlord's wireless internet. My work computer has a wireless card but, it is not an ISP card. I am having trouble using the landlord's service as it keeps knocking me offline.Also, my job would prefer I didn't use their service as they don't know of it's security. I need to be able to hardwire an IPS into my work laptop.

You have a personal IPS that you carry around with you? Sounds "heavy" dude.
