In a Box

Post by captsandwich »

On another forum I play a game of musical Broken Telephone. ONe guy writes & records a song, then passes it on to the next guy, who records a cover version and passes it on to the next guy, and so on.
No tabs, lyrics or sheet music is exchanged and everyone is encouraged to put their own stamp on the song.
My latest effort in this is a tune called In a Box. I received a 7.5 minute piece of one-riff structureless electronic rock and roll.

Here is the bluesy number I produced with my first real effort at playing slide.

No Rickenbackers were harmed in the recording of this song (unfortunately). I was nervous about the slide, so I used my Strat.

Interesting in and of itself, but I'm sure its uniqueness would stand out all the more heard in succession with all the other versions. Perhaps post a link to the whole project?

Nice sleepy Bajou vibe. Great slide hook. However, fidelity-wise I'm not hearing anything above 2kHz. Is this by design, or a by-product of MP3 compression?

It's not the most listener friendly site, Tom. They make you wade through their schpeil to try and get you to sign up for the paid membership just be able to hit the free download link. If you can't get to the free link, maybe there's a compatibility issue???

Options:
1) You could wait a week or two until the game is over & I'm allowed to post it on my other forum (with a little remastering to suit Mark's sensitive ears  Mark, I was thinking somewhere between those ancient, muffled blues recordings and JJ Cale. Maybe I took out too much treble)
2) You could send me your email address & I'll forward it to you.
Keep in mind, it's not the next worldwide sensation, it's just a ****** home recorded little slide blues number that I think is kind of nifty.

Yeah - probably some kind of compatibility issue... I'll just wait for the re-release of this almost worldwide sensation! Gives me something to look forward to.

OK, the game is over, the results are posted here: http://www.icompositions.com/music/search.php?q=CW3
Not all of them are up yet. I'm #11 (re-mastered to make it less muffled). #5 is probably my favourite. This ponkey guy is very talented.
