I'm a brass / no wobble man, too. Sure, my Hipshot will never look as sexy as the original bridge, but it does the job better IMHO. The extra mass has also remedied the distinct lack of bottom end wallop that my 2004 4003 had always suffered from at the low end of the E string.

I'm really glad this helped you but I have never found the 4003 lacking in bottom end wallop anywhere...! Strange that we all have such different experiences.espidog wrote:The extra mass has also remedied the distinct lack of bottom end wallop that my 2004 4003 had always suffered from at the low end of the E string.

it's the wood.....this sort of thing probably doesn't occur with steinbergers, but then, they sound and play like steinbergers....no offense graphite lovers.....i've owned a modulus or 2 myself....

Re: Aftermarket Bridge User Survey
I had a brass one with no wobble. I replaced it with an aluminum one, and there is wobble, mostly with the D saddle. It's only slightly annoying, and I still like it better than the stock Ric bridge/tailpiece. It seems that the slots machined into the base that guide one of the height adjustment screws on each saddle are cut a hair deeper on the brass one.

Gearhead, I wondered about that. Strange. The only wobblers listed are aluminum, too.

I'm almost wondering if there's something that happens during the plating process that causes those grooves on the aluminum ones to lose their depth.

Aluminums no wobble...I play pretty hard and even w/light gauge strings, no wobble...

Jaymi, does that include the one you bought from me? If so... it's something I'm doing, not the bridge.

Re: Aftermarket Bridge User Survey
When I installed an aluminum model on my new 4003, the E and A strings rattled & wobbled a little. I solved the issue by raising one side of the saddle (the left side, as looking at the bass while it sits on a stand) just a little higher than the other side - give it a try.
