Here is a recording of our new single on a TV show outside of Boston.

Wow, I've just been sonically lobotomized! 8) :)

Um, what's that thing in the bridge pickup position on your bass?

(ducking) I have two EMG Jazz pickups in this bass. I know how some of you guys feel about swapping out the "original" pickups and sporting anything but rick pickups (or Alembic...why are Alembic pups ok?) but the bass sounds killer with the EMG's. Still sounds like a rick.

BTW - the tune was cool - I liked it!

Great vid, Rikk! And possibly the coolest name for a local cable show EVER. Gotta love the giant posters of Kennedy & Lincoln on the wall, too. I can't help but detect a motive of irony in placing them there, both having been lobotomized in very unfortunate ways.

What IS that theme carried by the guitar hook? I know it's a lullaby from somewhere - my only point of reference is old Bugs Bunny cartoons. Whenever Elmer Fudd or Daffy Duck got knocked out cold by an anvil or whatever, this was the same theme music they used. Get resurrection of an old classic!

As far as the Rick-altering debate goes, it would be hypocritical of me to petition against it since I've modded a couple of my own basses. Never used anything but RIC pickups, but definitely altered the wiring. There are many variables that contribute to the RIC tone, the pickups just one of them. Even if non-Rick pickups alter this tone, I still think it's cool that someone will opt for a Rick bass on the merit of its other fine distinctions - the look, the feel, the quality & durability, the overall vibe.

Enyhu - I look forward to the next installment of 'Sonic Lobotomy.' Nice job, Rikk!

The song, "Beautiful Dreamer", was written by Stephen Foster, a long, long, long, long, time ago. 8)

That's the cut, alright.

Funny - in that Beatles vid, I see a Beatle I don't recognize at around the 53 second mark. George must have had a ghost player we knew nothing about!

Haha, that must be the fellow who put this upload together. He pops up at the end, too, with a message: "Hope you like it".

Thanks. Someone told me at some point where the melody came from, but I can't remember. The tune almost as is, is from a song adapted by Gordon Parsons from the original poem "A Pub Without Beer" by Dan Sheahan. The original song is from the 1940's or 1950's and originates in Australia. So what ever tune Parsons coped it still is there. We changed it from 3/4 time to 4/4 time because our drummer could not play 3/4 without it sounding like the "drum monkey."

That's cool. I'm sure that's what the Ramones would have done to it.
