I've now got one, and it's a very nice bass.

Obviously no Ric, but a good feel and a very good sound. The neck is VERY thin indeed.

Cue lots of Geddy impressions, albeit with the curtains closed!!

Here is my 'Geddy' Bass, 1/2 Fender Jazz, 1/2 other stuff. Sounds like his and has tons of Mojo. I installed the Badass II.

Whatcha gotta do when they don't make 'em left-handed. Still payed way under what the street price is for a Geddy sig. model.

Great pic John...shame what you have to go through to get a lefty.... :(

One of these days, I'd like to try one.

I'd also love to get my hands on a few different Jazz basses from different era's. I like the 62, 63, 65, 75 era's but woud NEVER buy on unless I knew the seller personally. Just too many copies, or fakes or fakes with real necks that scare me off. I just don't know enough about them not to get burned.

Also, there are SO many different Models....I can't figure out the which way to go. I once had a MIM Jazz. It sounded ok, but the neck was snickered and nothing could do would get it right, so that kind of turned me off.

I've heard the MIJ basses are excellent choices, and I like the thin neck with a slight taper, so at the very least, the Geddy neck is a good place to start. :)

AH, check this out!!! I don't have to SETTLE FOR BLACK!

MSRP over $1200.00 from Sam Ash... :(

I just got home from a Sam Ash and I saw the price of a new Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. Geez, what a price jump!! If you want one of these, fine. If you want a Rick just save a bit more money. If I wanted a Jazz Bass that much and want to save $$, I'd get a a made in Mexico or one of those new Squier 70's style Jazz Basses seem pretty nice.

Indeed!!!

I picked mine up a few years ago for right around $500 give or take (I think it was take  ) The price on these right now is absurd. Don't get me wrong - nicely done guitar, but not 1.2k nice.

You speak the truth about the Squiers - those "Classic Vibes" are a good deal at around 350. These are easily on a par, if not better than the MIM Fenders.

Yep, not long ago they were a much more affordable $799.99 at MF, GC and Sam Ash. Not too long before that, they were selling them for $699.99.
If I really wanted a Geddy Lee-like F*nd*r branded Jazz Bass, I'd go for this one, thought it's only available in a natural finish:

If I liked Jazz Basses (I hate that tapered neck), I would have picked up a Geddy Lee model a while back when they were much more affordable. If I really wanna play one, I'll play Paul Azpeitia's.

I think mine was under $600 with a non-Fender :Freedom" SKB case, brand new four years ago.

Hey, until you try one of Paul's waffles you don't know what you're missing!
Ahh, Paul's delicious handcrafted waffles, mimosas, good company and some Ricks to play while the waffles are cooking in the iron. Not many other ways to start a day better than that!

Mine worked out at about $1000 in US money.

Amazingly, it cost me less than a third of the price of a new 4003....

And just under 5 times less than a new 4004 Cheyenne!! :( :(

(Based on UK prices...)
