It's funny about her influences. She's around her mother more than me and her influences definitely reflect that.

However, when we're driving somewhere I put either the metal station on or the classic rock station on and she's just enthralled.

Her mother never listens to either station and considers it garbage, despite proclaiming having such an "eclectict taste in music" .

Anyway, we were out today and some Pink Floyd song came on and I started singing to it. Her reaction: "Ssshhh. I've never heard this, you didn't get paid to sing it and I want to hear the original."

I laughed and just silently lip synced the rest of the song.

Yeah, we actually want her to be forthright and honest like that.

That's really a cool story! Encourage her as much as possible by simply giving her the opportunity to pick it up and not making her feel like she HAS to pick it up. And UNT is a great school. My bro has a music degree from there.

Oh, and my youngest boy just turned 3 this weekend, so parties have been a big topic around here. My 6 year old asked if he "could have a Pink Floyd birthday cake-Dark Side of the Moon, please."

kira,i haven't thought of fanny in decades! i remember thinking they were a pretty hot band (musically).....thanks! oh and i like chrissie hynde's guitar playing as much as her vocals and songwriting.....
