Hi Scott :D

None since Sunday is a great effort. You've done the hard part, it should get easier and easier from now on. Soon it will all be a distant memory.

Hi Kira

I'm sure your lungs will love you

Don't give in !!!!

I've seriously had a fit this evening.

It's under control now but I want to blame the strawberry shortcake we had earlier. Gah.

Oh, and playing the bass helped a bit. :D

Hey you guys, I'm really glad to hear about your trying to quit, I've had a few friends die from lung cancer, it ain't pretty. :(

I can't speak from experience, my dad did a great thing when I was about 5 or 6. My brother and I thought a few of his friends who smoked (my dad had quit by then) were just the coolest. We were bugging one of them for a cigarette and my dad said, "Go ahead, give 'em one". Of course being dumb kids, we lit 'em up and inhaled deeply. Well, after coughing and gagging and just about puking our guts out, we had no desire to ever try that again.

My wife, however went through the ordeal. She was teaching a CPR class and stepped outside during a break to have a smoke. Then noticed the students (teens) looking at her and decided it was just about the stupidest thing she'd ever done (she'd been smoking 2 packs a day for over 20 years). She decided then and there to quit. She carried a partially used pack in her purse for well over a year, never smoking again. She says having the pack there meant she knew she could have one any time she wanted, she's just decide she didn't want one. Sometimes knowing something is available and not wanting it is better than knowing it's not available and wanting it.

I wish you all the best of luck, as someone once said, don't try to quit, just quit...

I still have the pack from last Friday (2 still in it) plus a full unopened pack.

They're available.

And how's this for twisted?

I had the same thing happen to me with my mother. She saw I thought smoking was cool. Handed me a Marlboro. I choked and gagged but finished it and then started a lifelong affair with it.

It didn't help that she didn't know I was already smoking other things and worse at the time. Poor Mom. She thought she was teaching me...

Scott, bring 'em up to the Dawghouse on Friday night and I'll dispose of them for you. :)

Congrats on your trying to quit.

Just remember, Yoda said, "there is no try, only do."

That's something I have to do too, but I haven't managed to find that perfect time.

They're around if I want 'em - my BF smokes so all I have to do is take one. He's being great about going outside (but we both already did that). But I'm hanging tough. And not the slightest urge to kill anyone ... yet.

That was a week ago, and I'm not hardly thinking about it anymore. Well past the edge of temptation with 100% success. Hope you're doing as well as me. :)
