64 Jaguar auction(oops).

Post by octagon »

I like the way the seller slips an important detail into the body of the text(it's in green)

That is funny.

At least he highlighted it, but burying the "bad news" is pretty common practice. Ya need to accentuate the positive while providing the negative details.

Original neck or not, I'd be turned off by this horribly placed decal:

I'd say it's overpriced by about a grand or so, for a refin, re-neck etc.

I played a block fingerboard Jag at a GC last night, which was going for a grand less than this. Original neck, too!

Nice!

Which GC? Some people hate the CBS era details, but I love me some blocks and binding. :)

(not so hot on the maple neck/black block inlays they did later though...)

I had a verrrry sweet block fretboard Jazzmaster. A '68, I think it was. Not too shabby in looks or sound, so post-CBS is not necessarily junque.

I do like the MIJ Block fretboard Jags and JMs. Gonna be adding one to the stable soon, I think...

This one was at the South Bay GC on Artesia Blvd., rosewood fingerboard. Pretty nice!

I had this one, Paul - one of the very few guitars I kick myself for getting rid of (was also upgraded with nice pickups and pots and set up wonderfully):
