Re: Fender Jazzmaster
I'd like to find chrome tips for the tremolo and pickup selector....any leads?
Re: Fender Jazzmaster
Might be a challenge, as I'm not sure even the plastic ones made for the USA models will fit the imports. A quick solution would be to pic up some chrome model paint and do them yourself, but it seems like someone would make something like that.

Re: Fender Jazzmaster
After some confusion dealing with the Ebay dealer in Japan, I decided to go with this:

Same guitar but it looks like it has the buzz stop already, and comes with a hardshell case. Nothing wrong with saving a few bucks too.

Re: Fender Jazzmaster
Nice one, Jay is a nice guy and a good dealer.
Re: Fender Jazzmaster
Marc, that's a really nice deal, especially with the HSC.
I'm not a big fan of the buzzstops, but everyone's different, there are a quite a few fans out there. If you don't like it, the nice ting about them is they're simple to remove. Another, less cumbersome cure for any buzzing is to simply drop in a Mustang bridge.
Congrats on your score!! Don't forget to let your son play now!!

Re: Fender Jazzmaster
Not sure but, looks like it might have the Mustang bridge too. Can't see if there's ridges in the saddles.
Still have to get him the pickups he wants, a custom pickguard, and some chrome stuff.
Oh, don't worry, he will play that thing until it's worn to a toothpick. He loves playing the guitar(even though he's the drummer for our band

Jimi started on a short-scale Duo-Sonic when he was a teener.egosheep wrote:Folks just weren't paying attention!!wj350 wrote: Interestingly, when the JM was introduced, it was supposed to be Fender's flagship model. The JM was the top of the Fender line and intended for jazz players (hence the name), who greeted it with resounding silence, and rejected it in favor of their big hollowbody boxes. Leo and Freddy's supposition that jazz players would appreciate Forrest White's tone switching circuitry, was dead wrong, and for once, Leo didn't do his player interviews as he did to develop the Strat. So how the heck the Jaguar ever made it to market 3 years later is a mystery, except maybe they thought that the JM didn't have enough switches! The Jag was a bigger seller but both are much more popular today than they ever were in the '60s (except with surf bands back then).

....and a double cutaway Danelectro before that.
Re: Fender Jazzmaster
I believe The Jaguar was designed and for sure marketed to the Surf players..the Jazzmaster to the Jazz guys..one out of two ain't bad...jingle_jangle wrote:Jimi started on a short-scale Duo-Sonic when he was a teener.egosheep wrote:Folks just weren't paying attention!!wj350 wrote: Interestingly, when the JM was introduced, it was supposed to be Fender's flagship model. Re: Fender Jazzmaster
Ironic, again because the Jazzmaster's deep sounding single coils are far better for Surf (IMO) than the Jag's, and I believe were more popular for Surf back in the 60s as well (though the long scale may have played a part too..).kenposurf wrote:I believe The Jaguar was designed and for sure marketed to the Surf players..the Jazzmaster to the Jazz guys..one out of two ain't bad...

The Strat was the most played guitar for Surf back then followed by the Jag...JM's came in 3rd...collin wrote:Ironic, again because the Jazzmaster's deep sounding single coils are far better for Surf (IMO) than the Jag's, and I believe were more popular for Surf back in the 60s as well (though the long scale may have played a part too..).kenposurf wrote:I believe The Jaguar was designed and for sure marketed to the Surf players..the Jazzmaster to the Jazz guys..one out of two ain't bad...
There's a brittle bright tone to the Jag that makes it perfect for surf..I'm using a Jag 90 % of the time now with the band but am careful to stay away from the ice pick in the ear tone (start with the tone knob 1/2 way and work from there...
