New American Standard Telecaster

Post by ricardo_vicente »

Well, I've gone a bit "Fender mad" of late and decided I had to revisit the world of Telecasters.

I looked at lots of Mexican models (I'm a big fan of the quality they produce for the price) but in the end the American Standard had exactly the right configuration for me.

In the end I decided to pick up one of the limited edition colours with matched headtstock just to have something different. The painted headstock seems to polarise tastes but I kinda dig it. And the Daphne Blue I think looks great, especially next to a dark rosewood board.

It's a lovely guitar. Very responsive, well-balanced and great to play. The satin finish on the neck is a thing of luxury!

Here are the obligatory photos to drool over ...

I vote yes! Good Choice. I like the matching painted headstock/body!!!!!!

Daphne Blue is nice as well! :D

The only thing I'm not really crazy about are those boxy modern Fender Schaller style tuners; they look completely out of place on a spaghetti-logo Fender headstock, especially one with a headstock painted to match the body. Given the rest of the guitar's lovely appointments I could deal with it though. :)

I used to think the only Fenders that looked good with painted headstocks were the offsets....well, you just shot that theory to hell for me!!! :D :D

Congrats, that's a gorgeous looking Tele. Did you get the $100 rebate too?

I suppose the vintage ones would look quite nice on this guitar. I don't mind the modern style ones though and they match the modern style bridge which (being the heretic that I am) was a must for me.
And, most importantly, they work! Very well! :D

I'm in Europe .... well, geographically Africa, but that's another story. In any case, I'm not in the USA so no offer of $100 rebate for me I'm afraid.

Y'know, I took a long time picking out the colour. At first I couldn't decide whether go for the limited edition or something a bit more classic but originally I had the Surf Green at the top of my list if I was going to go for the matched headstock. In the end, I said to the wife "you pick the colour" and this is what she chose.

Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't realize Fender was geo-limiting the rebate. Sucky thing for them to do! But you still have a great guitar there!

Daphne/Sonic Blue is my favorite Fender solid color. Your Tele looks gorgeous, Richard!

I'm with Paul A on the tuners. You might want to get some Fender-style Klusons for it.

And drool I did. Beautiful Tele, Ricardo. I'm loving the pale blue with rosewood board (the only sort of Fender board for me).

A rare painted peghead orange (Capri Orange?) Telecaster was in my house for one lovely week last year.
