Stairway Like You Have Never Heard It Before
Stairway Like You Have Never Heard It Before
Even though I am a guitar player primarily I have been playing a lot of bass recently and so I have been listening to various styles thanks to the help of a few really good friends from the forum who keep telling me to listen to this song or that song etc. I found this guy on youtube and he is just beyond belief.
This one is for Joey and Tony. Enjoy guys.

Cool. Nice playing, nimble fingers. Sounds like that might be a lined fretless ebony or resin fingerboard. His D & G strings sound more guitar-like than bass-like.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

Very cool Brian! Plays more like a classical guitarist than a bassist!
Very Michael Manring like...I'm sure you've heard of him...as a matter of fact, when I did a search for Michael Manring's Unusual Weather, look who turned up!
Very gifted...and those ZON basses are amazing....

Here's a completely different take on the song.

And....................Here's another surprsing sweet rendition.
As you can see rock music and classical are not really that far apart.

Zons have carbon graphite necks with "phenowood" resin impregnated fingerboards. It seems his Vinny bass is tuned higher than concert pitch, perhaps as a tenor (ADGC).rickenbrother wrote:Cool. Wow, that's quite the tone!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Yeah, I noticed that too, and wondered how he achieved that.

I think they're actually piccolo bass strings, a friend of mine has some on one of his basses... he said "great for solo stuff, not so much in a band"
