S for Satin - Cool C64S's at POTR
Chris at POTR has a C64S JG & FG in SATIN! That's right Jetglo and Fireglo WITHOUT the glo! They both look great, very different but great. They are going to go fast (one may be gone already), so call now. (Well, wait until he opens tomorrow).

I wish I could see pics of them. Did you actually see the basses?

Ah HA! I knew there was a satin 4001c64S FG out there somewhere!

Yes, I saw them (played them too!marc61 wrote:I wish I could see pics of them. Did you actually see the basses?
The FG is a nice light Fireglo with NO shine to it (Pure Satin). I noticed the JG right away and was standing next to the FG before Chris pointed it out to me. So I think the FG is a little more subtle. They both will look even better once they have their first dings and scratches.
The necks on both were THIN.
They won't be around long enough for Chris to take pictures. And he leaves for a guitar show in Charlotte tomorrow.

I would love to grab the fg....just don't have that kinda cash on hand right now

Chris just shipped my second 4001C64S MG out to me today.

On a recent trip to my local music store (http://www.zonemusic.com) one of the intruments that REALLY caught my eye was a satin blood red guitar by Gibson. It made me want to buy it and own it and touch it just by its sheen, or lack thereof....and I don't know how to play guitar, barely get by with my bass.
Hmmmm...wonde what would happen if I rubbed by 1982 4001 Mapleglo down with 1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper????

Because I told you before- oh, you can't do that.

Robert, I think I would go finer... maybe what JH uses - 1500 grade paper. Or from Rickenbacker Forum thread:

"Even better is Micro-Mesh; if you're a pilot or know one, see if you can bag some of this, as it really burnishes the finish beautifully.
The appearance is great and looks completely natural if you are careful with the transition."
That might get you the effect you want????
