Thickness of the 4005 body top?

Post by paul_yan »

4005 bass owners, has anyone measured the thickness of your 4005 body top? Can anyone post your measurement? I'm trying to educate myself a little. Thanks! :D

I'll pull my RM3261 out later and see if I can put the micrometer on it.

HEY PAUL!!! My 66 without binding is a delicate 3/16" and actually just a hair under that, probably 5/32" if I held something besides my Stanley tape measure up to it. The 3/8" thickness on the 4005's WB seems huge to me. My Kustom K200 is 1/4" and my 66 eb2 is probably 3/16" as well. Hope all is well on your side of the world....cheers, David

My May 1967 (GE datecode) RM3261 tests out at 0.233 - 0.240" so mine is also a lot thinner than those 3/8" boat planks!

Did we go to the same school? Nah, my problem was that darned Jetglo 4005WB makes it hard to read the machinist's rule.
