Who Am I #54

Post by admin »

From Paul Wilczynski.

Who Am I #54
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Hmmmm... unusual (to say the least :) )
No idea really - but just a guess, is it one of these things Paul McCartney did, under another name - Fred the Fireman, or Thrippington Lodge or something?

Oh well, if I'm out I may as well be... far out, man 8) :D
No more ideas on who - do I get any credit for hearing (I think) Donovan's "Colours" as the only recognizable tune?

Half marks, Nick...It is, indeed, "Colours". But who is the artist? Anyone? I mean, who, when asked what his instrument of choice was, answered, "the orchestra"? And who is so lovably pretentious as to use a foghorn and vibes in the same piece?

One more clue: He had an acting career, however small.

You got it. Was unfamiliar with his Twin Peaks role; you might recall him also playing an attorney in "Chinatown".

And his name, Dane, is?...

The Edgar Varese of the psychedelic generation: the one and only Van Dyke Parks...

...aka: 'Little Tommy Manicotti'...

(PW: it was your 'foghorn and vibes' clue that clinched it for me...)
