Todd: Would you kindly provide another clue? Songs that are too difficult, for whatever reason, lead to people giving up.

Can't think of a good clue, so how about the answer.

The band is Golden Smog. It is comprised of members of Soul Asylum, Honeydogs, Jayhawks and Wilco.

The Jayhawks is the only group out of the line-up I recognized. Man, I've been too long away from the Dark Side.

Gary and Mark from the Jayhawks have been the two steady members of the group.

Chris Mars of the Replacements and Jody Stephens from Big Star each did stint with the group as well.
