Who Am I #81
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

This makes a change! Usually any entries of mine are guessed within an hour.
This one is a bit more obscure, though I would expect a majority of those on this forum to have at least heard of him...
Need a (big) clue? He's particularly noted for the instrument he plays.

Arthur (Big Boy) Crudup?
Re: Who Am I #81
That's a great song and once again the voice is so familiar. But it's not ringing any bells for me.

This guy is still living, but has been around for a good long time (even longer than you or I, Roy
).
Listen closely, somewhere in the middle he talks to himself...

He mentions Freddy in the middle of the song. But who would that be? It sure isn't Freddy Fender.............

Not Clapton, and no, not Freddy Fender
That slide styling is the clue - always assuming you know him of course.
Maybe he's more obscure than I thought... I'll give it until the end of the day.

That's not a bottleneck guitar you're hearing - and this guy is by no means limited to blues (though you'll probably find his albums in the blues rack in a record store).

Well, I can't think of any more clues, so here he is - the legendary (in blues and steel guitar circles, anyway!!) Freddie Roulette. This time with a classic non-blues instrumental...

I guess this is where Peter gets to have a go and test us all again
