I believe that John stopped playing on George's tracks after Love You To. Read that somewhere, but haven't been able to cite a good source.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Then again, those are probably things the spouses don't know about either.
ya..... to say the least. I once knew a dancer who was on tour with them (as part of one of those silly warmup acts).... one of his fond memories is of Paul McCartney running down a hotel hallway in his underwear.... he said that the Beatles "enjoyed themselves" quite a bit.

I'm curious about this too...I can't really think of any Lennon bits that stand out on those post-Revolver songs. It's hard to imagine he wasn't there when Clapton joined them for While My Guitar Gently Weeps"...then there was the live "Let It Be" stuff...but I guess I really don't know.

Is it true?

Your mention of While My Guitar... got me to thinking, because George had stated that brining in CLapton might help smooth over the tension between them. Lo and behold, Lewisohn (The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions) indicates that Lennon played organ on the earlier unreleased version of this song (the acoustic original with other instrumentation added by the rest; only the unadorned demo has been released, to my knowledge).

Later, John added guitar to the re-make that became the released version. No mention of John being present on September 6 when Clapton overdubbed his solo.

But so much for my "theory."

But think of most of George's songs shortly after Revolver:

Within You WIthout You
Blue Jay Way
The Inner Light
Long, Long, Long
Savoy Truffle
Piggies

Not too much room for John to do much even if he as willing to. Perhaps Lewisohn has more to say on that...

Yeah, it's remarkable considering that many of George's best Beatles songs received notable support and contribution from Paul: Taxman, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, and Here Comes The Sun in particular.

Well John is on film (Let It Be) playing the slide guitar on For You Blue, just for one...

in fact John helped out composing Taxman. At least with his famous D7#9.
Paul skipped George's solo and played a better "George-solo" .
Isn't it frustrating?

Paul was (is) a great guitar player as well as an incredible bass player.

I'd take him in my band anyday.
