335 Capri in LH?

Re: 335 Capri in LH?
Recall that there was a supposedly 1968 (IIRC; maybe it was a 1967?) 360/6 BG for sale local to me last year (I got to see it in person) ... it had lost its original jackplate, so there was no way to confirm its date of manufacture.

Re: 335 Capri in LH?
The 4005 was one of the NOS instruments I bought from John Hall in 1989, along with a 360-6FG and 360-12BG from that 1967 run of lefties. One of the regulars here owns the bass now.
I’ve seen that lefty 360-6BG before, many years ago. It’s had a bit of work done to it, but has the unusual routing identical to the other ‘67s I’ve had and seen.

Hare are a few shots of the lefties from the 1967 run that I owned in the 1980s - 1990s. (Yes, I owned all of these at the same time. Those were the days…)
I believe these were are all photographed in mid-1991. My apologies for the image quality. These were taken for insurance purposes, not publication. The studio shots of these instruments will be featured in a book I'm putting together...

Three of the lefties from the 1967 production run. 360-12BG, 360-6FG, 360-12FG.
The 360-12BG & 360-6FG were part of the collection found at the factory by me in late 1988. I bought them, along with the lefty 4005, for my personal collection.
Also in this shot is the first 12 string (Suzi Arden's CG725), Roger McGuinn's 341-12SF Light Show, and a Combo 400 from the 'found' factory collection.

370-6 BG LH. The twin to the 360-12 BG LH pictured above and below.

One of three 360-12 models in FireGlow from that production run that I've owned over the years.

The 360-12 MapleGlow featured in Tony Bacon's Rickenbacker Book.
All six of these lefties were begun at the same time, but shipped over a period of 22 years. They each have the internal routing identical (but mirror image) to the runs made for the right-handed 366-12 models, although no lefty 366-12s were ever ordered or built.

Hmmm, no 5th knob and the TRC is the raised plastic variety. I wonder what the story on this is? Also, may have been a refin as there is paint in the F-hole.doctorwho wrote:Recall that there was a supposedly 1968 (IIRC; maybe it was a 1967?) 360/6 BG for sale local to me last year (I got to see it in person) ... it had lost its original jackplate, so there was no way to confirm its date of manufacture.

My recollection of that guitar is that the finish was fine and that someone used a black marker in the soundhole. Not uncommon.
Last time I saw the guitar was in the early 1990s, and there weren't many guys restoring Ricks. Certainly not taking on rare colors like BurgundyGlo. When we restored McGuinn's light show we had to get a small sample of vintage BurgundyGlo from the factory to match the original finish where the body was repaired and neck was grafted back on. These days you can get any paint store to computer match a color.

Maybe so, Scott but I wonder why it has a raised plastic TRC, big tuners and no 5th knob? And black knobs? Any ideas?

My guess is that it was raped of the valuable parts (TRC and SN plate), and modified by a bozo explains the rest. How many people understand the mix knob? It's a common mod to remove it (it's basically a poor design anyway.)
You would not believe the number of Ricks I've seen over the years with Gibson humbuckers and bridges, 5 way Strat switches, TRCs stripped to clear, TRCs made of wood paneling, added switches & knobs, etc.

If I were to mod my 360 to fit my style, I'd have one volume and the blend. Don't need the tones, don't need the xtra volume. Love the blend knob!
