Current Artist Series - Week 4

Post by blueflamerick »

This week's band originally formed as a side project of Something Corporate member Andrew McMahon in 2004. Currently featuring members Andrew on piano/vocals, Bobby Anderson on guitar, Jay McMillan on drums, and Jon "Dr J" Sullivan on bass, I present to you Jack's Mannequin.

2 weeks before their debut album, Everything in Transit, was to be released (featuring Tommy Lee of Motley Crew behind the drum kit on a few songs), Andrew was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The band was forced to cancel the tour and Andrew has since made a full recovery. He continues to raise awareness and money to help combat the disease with the Dear Jack Foundation.

The Resolution

I personally hold one degree of separation from this band, as bassist "Dr J" is a close friend and former bandmate to the guitar player and singer of my band. I'm pretty happy that Jon got the Jack's Mannequin gig, because if he didn't, he'd probably have mine.

Hope you enjoy this week's current artist.

For you Beatles fans, a cover of John Lennon's God (featuring Mick Fleetwood on drums)

I don't think I've heard these guys before! Good stuff, thanks for posting!

This has been a pretty good series so far, it's good to find out about new artists and their music. In this age of corporate radio stations with their generic and highly limited play lists, finding new music is sometimes difficult...

I have never heard of these guys but I have to say that they are fantastic. Thanks for posting these videos Erik and taking the time to write an interesting introduction.

Erik, thanks for taking this week and featuring a band that I might never have heard of.
After watching the first two vids, I think they sound like a really cool band. If you have any others in mind, let me know.
Now I'll get back to watching the rest! :)

Thanks for watching/listening guys. Glad you liked the band.

I think this could be a great series. I certainly have more ideas for artists. Hopefully we can get some more participation/view in the future.

Yeah, but it doesn't seem to have a lot of interest... Or at least not many replies...

I believe people are listening but they are not posting their thoughts. :?
