Is this comparison accurate?

Post by pfflam »

I stumbled upon this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtDvAPO-3ws

This is a comparison of Scatter-wound Toasters and High-gains

What I want to know is, are the examples of the 6-string Toasters and the 6-String High Gain accurate?

I hear my High Gain sound in the example - nice but sort of washy, but I want to know if the Toasters represented in that clip are really that much more crisp - I mean is it really the pickup? or just the way this guy has them set?

I want to know because I was going to try the moddification to the High-Gains to make them look toastery, but if that is accurate I want to get the Taosters

and need to know soon so I can plan out what bank to knock off in order to get the $300BUCKS!

That does sound accurate to my ears.

Keep in mind that the 360 is semi-hollow and the 620 is a solid-body. All else being equal, it sounds about right to me.

They do sound different, I just don't know if they sound $300's worth different. but don't take my word for it, I'm an old Button Topper anyway.
