Post by ricaddic »

It was 51 years ago today, Febuary 3rd 1959 a little after 1:00am in a cornfield near Clear Lake Iowa, a small single engine beechcraft pioleted by 21 yr old Rodger Peterson crashed takeing not only his life, but also the lives of, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and Jiles Perry Richardson Jr (The Big Bopper)RIP fella's, Rock-n-Roll took a big hit and great loss on this day 51 years ago..
as Don Mclean referred to them the in "Bye Bye American Pie" The Father, Son and Holy Ghost....

Truely a sad day in rock & roll history.

What, when they "bought the farm?"

Okay, my bad..... You have to wonder how early rock (ALL rock) would have been different had they all lived.

It always bums me out to think about it. Buddy really had something going. All of them were too young. RIP, fellas.

Ouch. That's not what I meant.  Buddy Holly (and the Crickets) had a massive impact on one Mr. John Lennon even to the point of inspiring the name of the most important band in music history. His (Buddy's) impac... er, influence has informed so many styles of music.

The only dark aspect of Holly's influence is that the world has since been subjected to Gary Busey*!

* He DID turn out a fine performance in the BH Story.

Big bummer in the music history books. They will, however, live forever in our hearts and sound systems!

I believe that Buddy would most certainly have eclipsed his earlier records with new recordings. He was a talented man with a very talented back up group. I am not so sure about the other two though. I suspect that but for their untimely and tragic deaths, the passage of time would have faded them from our memories.

Oh and it's good to see you back posting Angelo...............you were missed my friend.
