I would still like to see that if you can find the clip.
As requested. The entire film is there in 9 minute chunks. Check out Paul playing the orignal bass 3:00 minutes in rehearsing MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER

Thank goodness it was the 360/12 TS that was stolen instead of the 360/12 OS, otherwise the only double bound model in the current Rick lineup would be the 381. :D

i once saw a web page about a band that took pictures holding the beatles gear, in front of a closet while they were recording at abbey road. the name was like aero-something??? It seemed like their gear was very easy to get to.

I don't see the original bass in that clip. Looks like the second Hofner to me before he switches to piano.

There did look like a difference in the basses though. In the one around the 3:00 mark mentioned, it was a bass that had the strap secured to the headstock like an acoustic and like the first Hofner, esp. in the "Revolution" vid. The second Hofner always had the familiar brown leather strap that is seen later that was secured under the neck which is what is seen in the later portion. That was my take on it from what I could see, anyway.

THat's just the strap hanging loose. There was no forward strap button on the Hofners and Paul used to string it around the upper part of the body and under the part of the fingerboard that extends over the body for both Hofners. Later, not sure when, he put a strap button on the neck heel of his second Hofner.

On previous threads here on the RRF it was identified that George's second 360-12 (the "new" style) was stolen :( after the final tour stop, Candlestick Park, San Francisco, in August of 1966.

If it was stolen in 1966, are we saying it was recovered  only to be stolen again :x :x from Abbey Road studio's closet a few years later ?? Or do we have a situation here of urban legends being confused a bit :? ?

My other understanding of Beatles documented recordings was that the last time the 360-12 was used in the studio was for the first takes of "And Your Bird Can Sing" (Anthology and Bootleg versions) but that George eventually switched to one of his six stringers for the take that ended up on Revolver.

I have a Hofner, so I know how they attach. That's why I was watching carefully about that. The law of gravity would state though that the strap would hang down, not extend out to the headstock. Also, there is an edit that occurs before they actually begin rehearsing the song before the 3:00 mark in question (this is the film study teacher coming out) and there is a change in their clothing, notably Paul from the red to a black.

Look at the video starting at about 2:45; there is a clear front shot of the Hofner. Notice that there is a bridge pickup near the bridge, not
a middle pickup in the same (new) mounting "ring" as the neck pickup. This is not the "Revolution" bass.

I noticed that too. That's before the edit that comes in around 3:00. That's the Hofner that has the traditional brown leather strap secured under the neck. You can see him adjusting it on his shoulder as he's wearing a red shirt. Then, around 3:15 or so, he's suddenly in black (much darker than if these were just shadows) and the strap is out to the headstock, not under the neck at the body where it had been just seconds before.
