The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust is one of my all time favorite recordings, if not my favorite. I have to admit, I think I like your cover at least as much as the original, if not better, Mark. Once again your take on a song is extremely well recorded and produced. Was that your vocal? Very, very moving. I really loved this.

Wow! I didn't expect a compliment like that...I don't think I've ever felt such a sense of uncertainty as I did when trying to fill Bowie's shoes on this vocal. There were so many times I just wanted to press erase and move on...and then I'd read accounts of how he generally nailed most of his vocals in a take or two. So it's a real pleasant surprise to hear a fan of Ziggy Stardust say what you did, Dean. Thanks for the confidence boost!

Your work is consistently superb, and this recording is no different.
This is a marvellous take on one of my favourite Bowie tunes.
I particularly love the use of echo on parts of the vocal, and the guitar solo is absolutely spot on.

please do, I want to hear it. I was gonna say that there were a couple of moments in the chorus where the mix could use a little more slap back verb on the vox through some compression on that bus ( if thats how you did it) to pop like in the original and the delay line needed a little more oomph. Its a great job though, you really captured the feeling of that song and your performance on vocals is commendable. It is pretty astonishing that bowie made up the songs on the spot and sang most of them on the first or second take. Don't you hate those people?

I happen to agree with your suggestion, and was vetoed. I'd like that whole chorus before the "freak out far out in out" part to have a full volume double echo instead of the standard verb and soft delay treatment.
