Possible RIC Sighting in a movie.

Post by rob »

In the movie Bullitt, there's a part where Steve McQueen is in a coffee shop. I paused it on the best possible image of the guitar player, which wasn't that great on showing the guitar. It looked to me that the pickup was a hi-gain. I'm not quite sure about this, because the movie came out in 1968 and I don't belive hi-gains were available then, or were they? Anyway, that was the best image of the guitar, and the pickup does look like a hi-gain.

Maybe it's the so-called 'screw shaft' high-gain pickup, a short-lived, 'button-less' early version of the 'button-top' high-gain pu.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I even tried to see the fretboard, but since it was a dark setting, it was hard to see. I couldn't tell if they were triangle or rectangle inlays, since there was the lack of light.

The guitar looked like a semi-hollow, single cut-away body.
