Rickenbacker 3001 Tuning Pegs
I'm looking at a 1979 Rickenbacker 3001, but am not convinced about the tuners being original to the bass. They are the clover style pegs with shiny chrome and "Rickenbacker" stamped on each of them. Any experts out there to advice please???
Re: Rickenbacker 3001 Tuning Pegs
Using the advanced search feature of the Register, I entered 3001 for model and "back of headstock" for IMG. Seven hits came up, each showing a 3001 with the back of the headstock pictured.

None of them have "Rickenbacker" stamped on them and they appear to be nickel not chrome. So the ones you are looking at are probably newer replacements.
By the way, welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum, Malcolm. I'm pretty sure that the tuners that say Rickenbacker on them didn't appear until the mid '80's. It's possible that the original ones on your bass were the reverse tuners and a previous owner did not like them.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

I concur with Joey. I don't think that the tuners on the 3001 MG I had were Rickenbacker-branded.

Welcome, Malcolm.
Ron and Joey explained it nicely. Please do post pics of your 3001. It's an RRF rule!

Here I am a day late & a dollar short, but yeah....prolly not original keys. The keys on my 78 are the standard, non shiny open back types.
Great bass though!
