I think I'm gonna uke......

Post by teb »

Due to lack of proper adult supervision, I picked up a Kala U-Bass, a fretless bass ukulele with a 20" scale that's built on a baritone uke body. It uses polyurethane strings that look like rubber O-ring material and has piezo pickups under the saddles. It has a sound kind of like a string bass, with a very round tone but it still maintains some punch and has a pretty solid low end. Pretty fun to play. The quest for new toys in the known universe continues.....

Sweet, round sound. Talk about a portable bass rig! Just have one of these bass ukes, and this Magnatone, and you can handle nearly anything!

Gear Trader in HB, CA had one of those Magatone things in front of their store for years.

Me, I want one of these:

The one in the pic belongs to Neil Young, and was photographed in front of a store on Hollywood Blvd., I believe...

I didn't know there was more than one...I thought this one was done as a sorta gag. It's quite beat, but the Maggie logo looks brand new...

Sounds really nice.

Speaking of uke's..... Here's the world's #1

Jake is a very nice humble guy and is already a legend in Hawaii where ukes rule the roost.
I met him once as we were both buying the same guitar cord in a music store on Beretania St, Honolulu.
