A 60s Vox Typhoon is sitting on my living room chair right now. I think it was made by EKO (Italy?). Haven't plugged it in just yet, but might have the chance tomorrow. There's an interesting volute at the peghead. It came with a very hip teardrop-shaped case with yellow velvet interior.
looks like this:

I've owned a Phantom Guitarworks Teardrop XII, but never had my hands on many Vox guitars. The ones I have touched were like Fender Coronados -that is to say they looked cool but barked like inbred dogs!
This Typhoon is in remarkable condition, plays and intones like a dream (a truly effortless neck). The acoustic tone is warm and deep. Can't wait to try the pickups.
I loaned a JC120 to a great KY guitarist (anyone here know Jeff Ellis?) and he gave me the Vox as collateral. Of course, he added, "It's for sale."
I'm in NO position to buy his guitar -but did offer to sell it. I'll post it here before trying the Bay. PM if you're interested.
Meanwhile I'm curious to know if anyone here owns/has owned any vintage Vox instruments.
