From A Canadian Garage

I really love this song which was released by the Canadian group Mashmakhan in 1970. A combo organ and interesting organ riff that makes the song. This song will also test the limits of Garage Music and the extent to which it may differ from Psychedelic Music.

Thanks for that one Peter..interesting..the combo organ for sure has that garage feel..the melody has a bit of a Russian flavor which when you think about it, the rhythm of the combo organ does as well. The vocal part of the middle eight sounds like Three Dog Night!

The lyrics are a little goofy, bu tif we're in the car and this comes on the 'classic rock' station, I sing along loudly with the chorus. Partly because it's so much fun, partly because it annoys my wife.

PS: I had no idea this was a Canadian band.

Good local Montreal band who had three members eventually wind up with April Wine. From the early years, and this recording, drummer Jerry Mercer. From later years (late 70s) Brian Greenway and Steve Lang.

Jerry and Brian are still seen supporting the local scene in various capacities. I remember seeing Jerry in 2005 at a charity fundraiser for my son's elementary school. He was headlining a bill with a few bands on it, one of which was a group of very young high school kids with their garage band, who provided the drum kit for the event. After seeing Jerry perform on his kit, the young drummer was very impressed. Jerry sat with him for a good hour after the show going over some techniques, then signed the snare head for the up and coming musician.

Garage supporting garage? In any case, very impressive.
