Wonder what strings, amp and settings Lee is using to get his sound with his 4001 reissue RIC bass. Good sound but not great. Notice that Lee ONLY pulls UP with a pick. I guess that's because he's really a finger bass player and not a pick player. Finger players only pull up, right? He looks a bit stiff. LOL!

I notice that our very own Francesco / rickinroma also does UP picking most of the time. I never thought about "Why?" but
noticed it looked different.

Francesco - were you originally a fingers-only bass player? I came to bass after having played guitar so I usually alternate up
and down picking, and it took me a while (read: Years) to get comfortable and competent with my fingers.

I have to say, after watching both Will Lee and Francesco channel Macca over the past few years, I also started up-stroking when playing Beatles stuff on bass. I do feel like when up-stroking, you get a less-aggressive attack on the note and a slightly rounder sound. This is especially useful when using strings like TI's, which are super low tension and easy to pick "too hard".

no, not really...I stated playing basslines on an old acoustic guitar with a pick...up picking the notes as I had the feel I was feeling more secure to hit them with more precision
After almost 30 years, I still feel and think that
