George...This is a very cool section you have going here. Expect me to be a part of it in a big way. I'm a huge 60's garage fan, in fact, I played in a NJ garage band called Saturday's Garbage that cut one acetate 45 in '67 that has been reissued twice on '60's comps. I'm in the process of putting together a new 60's style garage band as we speak-to play all Nuggets stuff and obscurities.
I'm a big Remains fan. Their bass player, Vern Miller, is one of my best friends, and we have played in a few bands together over the years. The Remains are still together with all four original members, and play about 6-8 shows a year, always to packed houses.

That last clip was filmed at Amoeba Music in Hollywood, perhaps the coolest record/CD store I have ever been to. Every time I go in, I'm good for at least $150 or more. The Remains were out in California to film part of the documentary about them. The producers rented them a '59 Caddy convertible for them to drive around in.
What is so remarkable is that all of them are in their mid-60's and they've lost none of the fire they had in '65. They still sound great.
Vern Miller taught instrumental music in middle school and retired two years ago and now plays with an original band called Caterpillar Book, and does record production in his home studio. Barry Tashian is a fixture on the Nashville music scene and worked with Emmylou Harris for years in her Hot band. Barry also does gigs with his wife, Holly. Their son, Daniel, is a hotshot record producer and musician in Nashville. Billy Briggs sold luxury cars for years, but has been somewhat sidelined lately due to cancer, that we hope, is in remission. Chip Damiani owns a roofing business in Connecticut and has actually played my drums! He's a character, but a good one.
I could tell the entire Remains story here, but it would take too long. With Vern as one of my best friends, I was in possession of all of their unreleased stuff, demos, alternate takes years ago.

These are some of the things that I like so much about this forum, exposure to some new music that I haven't heard before and getting to hear some great stuff I may have missed.
And Bob, I agree about Amoeba, I've only been there a few times but I haven't gotten out for less that $200; and that's just in the Vinyl section. I've been there for hours and haven't even seen the CD's and DVD's. I know the Hollywood one isn't the original but
