Still looking for a C or D Grover tuner for my 72' 4001..

Post by throw_this_away »

If you have an extra, or know of someone who does... let me know. They are the wavy type.

Hello to everyone that may remember me from a few years back. It's been a while, and I must admit that I have been lazy in my search as of late... but I figured I would give it another chance.

Welcome back, John.
I'm pretty sure I have some spares, but will check later today.

I found two and would part with one. It functions well with a slightly tight feel, and has been swaged, so it's the non-exploding type.

I bought them from Tony C about a year ago, but I have no idea what I paid for them.

Anyone know what a fair price is for a Wavy these days?

I think a full set of wavies with ferrules usually goes for $250-300, and singles usually sell for around $65.00.

Great pics, Kevin! What's that background?!

Welcome back, John D. I miss our Deluxe vs. S sparrings!

Yeah, I was going to say "forget the tuner, give me that flamed maple!"

A future top laminate for a 21-fretter, perhaps?!

If anyone is interested, those "Wavy" style Grovers are called "Grover Slimlines". We discussed this on another thread about 6-string machine heads.

Hello everyone. It is good to be back although I will admit that my training has kept me out of bands, and allowed my instruments to collect more dust than I would have liked as of late.

My return seems to be a good one so far however as I have found my 72 a vintage style case (ok, not that hard to find), and based on the above... hopefully the tuner (I looked so long that I basically gave up).

A new old tuner will be great since the old one is both brass, and slips when bringing it up to tune.

ah ****... I knew it was too good to be true... I am off on my Ric lingo after being gone for so long... they are NON-WAVY grovers, "patent pending" type. *facepalm*

edit: C tuner? I meant G. I have lost my edge for sure.

Oh well, I tried!

Sweet '72, John! Must be an early - mid '72 to still have Flats without walnut wings.
